Purchasing information
Overall condition fair. The back panel of the brooch has been added to the piece at a later date and is a 19th century panel from another piece. The hinge has been replaced with a substantially tarnished extra panel and visible lead solder. There are slight scratches and areas of discolouration to the outer surround. The rope-twist surround has possibly been added. The cameo is well carved, there is slight dirt to some of the detail. There is a curved mark to the cameo near to the bottom, that appears to be to the back of the shell, however concealed by the later attached backing. Weight 14.6gms.
