Condition Report

A mid 20th century continental ruby, diamond, paste and split pearl brooch. Of marquise-shape outline, the three circular-shape red paste, with square-shape ruby chevrons and rose-cut diamond and split pearl accents. Foreign marks. Length 3.5cms. Weight 4.5gms.

Purchasing information
    Overall condition fair. There are scratches and areas of tarnishing to the brooch. There is black tarnishing to the silver settings. One red paste is chipped, there is abrasion to the facet edges of the red paste. The rubies are fairly well matched, with easily visible typical inclusions, some rubies are chipped. There is one colourless paste replacement, the remaining diamonds are chipped. Some settings may need to be secured. The back hinge and catch has been replaced at a later date, with visible lead solder. The back pin is metal. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue for coloured gemstones.
