Condition Report

A late Georgian gold enamel and split pearl mourning brooch. Of marquise-shape outline, the sepia panel of a scantily clad female within a garden, plucking at an enamel and wirework raised basket of flowers on a similarly wirework and seed pearl column, within blue enamel and split pearl surrounds. Length 4.5cms. Weight 12.5gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Converted with later brooch fittings.
  • Loss to the top of the column.
  • Some seed pearls and some of the wirework loose, possibly deficient.
  • The flower the woman is holding appears mostly deficient.
  • The woman is semi-nude with one breast showing.
  • Dirt to the inside of the glass.
  • Small cracks and/or staining to the panel at her foot.
  • Enamel with minor surface abrasion.
  • Split pearls well matched with minor wear.
