A snake head and a snake brooch.

Description

Condition Report

Two snake brooches. The first designed as a coiled snake with opal crest and garnet eyes suspending a turquoise heart, the second designed as a turquoise and engraved snake head, converted from a clasp. Lengths 3.3 and 4cms. Total weight 7.4gms.

Purchasing information

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Onje turquoise deficient to the snake head, further turquoise chipped.

  • Splits and holes from originial fittings remain.

  • Later base metal brooch fittings with some discolouration.

  • Possible replacement gems.

  • Opal shows good play of colour, some slight dead zones.
