A late Victorian silver and gold diamond tiara. Comprising a graduated series of seven old-cut diamond marquise-shape clusters, the principal three with similarly-cut diamond radial surround, raised on knife-edge stems to the base metal headband, each section detachable, with necklace and three brooch mounts. Estimated total diamond weight 19 to 20cts, J-L colour, SI2-P1 clarity. Length of diamond sections 3.5 to 1.5cms. Total weight (excluding headband) 48gms. With case by D & J Wellby Ltd.

Purchasing information- Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
- Most of the knife-edge bars show slight bends and the principal knife-edge bar shows moderate dents.
- Headband with brown felty fabric covering, little wear, slight discolouration.
- Each diamond section has a hook to suspend a drop, no drops present.
- Estimated dimensions of three principal diamonds: 7 by 6.4 by 3.6mms, 6.5 by 5.6 by 3.9mms and 6.1 by 4.8 by 4mms.
- Diamonds fairly well matched.
- Individual size and setting of smaller diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
- Some surface reaching inclusions.
- Some variation in colour, more non-principal diamonds appearing moderately tinted light yellow.
- Some diamonds with small nicks.
- Length of headband approximately 27cms.
- Length of necklace 39cms.
- Necklace comprises a series of screw fittings, with bi-colour knife-edge bar spacers and white metal trace-link back-chain.
- Back-chain believed modern, replacement.
- Most mounts show discolouration.
- Silk to inside of the case shows wear and tears. Text reads 'D&J Wellby Ltd. Garrick St, London.
- Velvet to inside of case shows discolouration.
- Case does not close shut securely, hooks to either side of clasp can secure the lid.
- Some wear to the outer cover, moderate wear to the base.
