Condition Report

ROLEX - a gentleman's Royal Navy Issue Oyster Perpetual Submariner wrist watch. Circa 1972. Stainless steel case with calibrated bezel, case back engraved with British broad arrow and numbered 0552/923-7697 593/76. Reference 5513, serial 3826522. Signed automatic calibre 1520. Black dial with luminous hour markers. Fitted to an unsigned bi-colour black and grey nylon 'NATO' style strap with stainless steel pin buckle. 39mm. Purchasing information
  • Movement is currently functioning.
  • Movement has scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with general wear visible to the naked eye. Tarnishing to automatic work bridge.
  • Dial appears to have noticeable marks and scratches. The watch has been redialled in the past, possibly with the circled "T" being added.
  • Hands show marks and tarnishing with discolouration to the luminous paint.
  • Glass has scratches and marks.
  • Case shows scratches, marks and dints. Rotating bezel rotates. The case back has had its military engraving redefined.
  • Crown screws down and has light scratches when viewed under a 4x loupe.
  • Strap shows marks and creasing.
  • Buckle shows marks and scratches when viewed under a 4x loupe.

    This lot does not come with box or papers. It does come with a letter from Rolex advising that this watch "was one of a quantity supplied to her Majesty's Dockyard Rosyth on the 11th March 1976 and had the number 593/76 engraved on the case back".
