A pair of late George III Irish silver candle snuffers.

Condition Report

A pair of late George III Irish silver candle snuffers, the scissor action form with curved stems leading to circular finger rings, the scissor box embellished with shell motifs and engraved with a family crest. Hallmarked James Le Bas, Dublin 1812, also with retailer's mark 'West'. Length measuring 6 5/8 inches (17 cm), gross weight 3.55 ozt (110.5 grams).

Purchasing information
    The snuffers display general tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches, commensurate with age and use. Numerous surface nicks. Cracks visible to stems, possible repairs? There is a repair to one of the feet of the finger rings. Sticker mark visible to underside. Residues of polish to some areas. Appears in working order. The engraved crest is very worn with complete loss of detail to some areas. Hallmarks located to interior of scissor box and trimmer blade, some rubbing but still legible.
