Condition Report
An early twentieth century silver swing-handled basket, of oval form with gadrooned and shell shaped rim surrounding a pierced upper body of bow, scroll and garland motifs, the whole raised upon a splayed oval foot. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., assumed Sheffield 1918. Height inclusive of handle measures 9 1/8 inches (23.5 cm), weight 21.6 ozt (673.3 grams).

Purchasing information-
In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The swing handle has a vacant central cartouche, stamped with Rd number 327377 to the underside. Heavier areas of tarnishing to the pierced decoration, the handle, foot and along edges. Remnants of polish visible. The town mark is obscure and over struck slightly by the maker's mark, assumed Sheffield from the visible date mark and lion passant, further maker's mark and lion passant on the handle, also stamped Mappin & Webb Ltd beneath the base.
