A Chinese silver export card case.

Condition Report

A turn of the century Chinese silver export card case, of oblong canted form with a name engraved circular cartouche amidst a scene in low relief of two figures in a sampan surrounded by mountains and trees and bamboo stalks and birds to the reverse, either side set on a textured background, with removable cover. Stamped WS alongside a character mark for Woshing, Shanghai. Length measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), weight 1.7 ozt (53.9 grams).

Purchasing information
    In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The cartouche is engraved 'Elsie'. Some contact surface marks to the rim of the lower part of the case from the removable cover. Remnants of polish visible. Minor loss of definition to the decoration. Some heavier tarnish spots to the removable cover and along edges. Stamped WS alongside a character mark for Woshing, Shanghai (c.1970's - 1910's) which is clear and legible.
