A late Victorian gold, garnet, agate and enamel sentimental brooch.

Description

Condition Report

A late Victorian gold, garnet and agate sentimental brooch. The oval foil back garnet cabochon, with rope-twist and black enamel border, to the blue lace agate and scrolling foliate surround and glazed panel reverse. May be worn as a pendant. Length 4.2cms. Weight 20.5gms.

Purchasing information

  • Overall condition fair. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Evidence of previous repair to back of mounts.

  • Some gems possible replacements.

  • Appears to be re-enamelled. Enamel in good condition, with minor wear only.

  • Garnet is a deep pinkish red hue, with typical inclusions.

  • Stones in good condition with minor abrasions, agate with a few, small chips. Glue residue visible.
