Condition Report

BUCCELLATI (adapted) - a mid 20th century ruby brooch. Designed as a tri-colour floral bouquet, the later applied circular ruby cabochon collets, to the textured foliate cluster, gathered by a ribbon to textured stems. Signed Buccellati. Length 3.9cms. Weight 16.4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Shows evidence of repair/alteration, soft solder can be seen to collets.
  • Holes on each leaf due to the removal of the previous mounts.
  • Rubies and collets later additions to the Buccellati piece.
  • Discolouration where the ruby collets join the brooch.
  • Rubies good to fair condition with fair to moderate abrasion, small nicks and chips.
  • Two of the rubies are chipped along a surface reaching feature.
  • Rubies vary, most appear purplish red hue, variation in tone, saturation and level of inclusions. Some with profuse inclusions, many surface reaching, appearing cloudy.
  • Estimated diameter of largest ruby 4.5mms.
  • Estimated diameter of smallest ruby 3.8mms.
  • Width (at widest) 3.8cms.
  • Later French marks to the pin.
