A mid Victorian gold turquoise and diamond snake necklace.

Condition Report

A mid Victorian gold turquoise and diamond snake necklace. The engraved snake head and scrolling tail, with turquoise cabochon and rose-cut diamond scrolling crest, suspending a similarly-set locket, to the graduated snake-link chain. Length 41cms. Weight 25.5gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • The chain has been lengthened to both sides of the clasp with a fixed bar imitating a section of the individual links.
  • Unevenness, slight discolouration and wear at the joins.
  • Some probable replacement gems, wear to some mounts.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Cut and individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate weight, colour or clarity assessment.
  • Varied inclusions, some surface reaching.
  • Turquoise are a fairly well matched light slightly greenish blue through deep medium blue.
  • Two turquoise chipped.
  • Garnet eyes are well matched.
