A late Victorian gold, diamond and garnet insect brooch.

Condition Report

A late Victorian gold insect brooch. The oval-shape orange garnet and vari-cut diamond fly, with green gem eyes, to the split pearl terminal pin. Length 5.1cms. Weight 5.1gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Replacement gems.
  • Diamonds combination of old and rose-cut, two rose-cuts with shallow chips.
  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • One green gem eye significantly chipped.
  • Garnet is a medium, slightly brownish orange hue. Window effect to the centre.
