A mid Victorian gold diamond and garnet brooch.

Condition Report

A mid Victorian gold diamond and garnet brooch. The pear-shape garnet cabochon collet, suspended from an oval garnet cabochon with vari-cut diamond overlay and hair work glazed reverse, to the later bar. Principal diamond estimated weight 0.10ct. Length 7.1cms. Weight 20.7gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Glazed panel to the reverse containing a lock of hair arranged in a floral spray.
  • Panel slightly dropped, may require rearranging.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Diamonds bright.

  • Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate weight estimation.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Diamonds with some small light inclusions under 10x magnification.
