Condition Report

An early 19th century topaz and sapphire brooch. The oval-shape pink topaz, with oval-shape pink sapphire quatrefoil highlight cannetille surround. Estimated dimensions of topaz 18.8 by 12.6 by 4.2mms. Length 4.8cms. Weight 9.3gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Small losses to the cannetille.
  • Possible replacement fittings. Slight discolouration, repairs visible to the reverse.
  • Replacement gems.
  • Topaz is a light medium pink hue. Significant window effect across majority of the gem.
  • Topaz has chips at the girdle.
  • Sapphires are a well matched light pink hue. Moderate windoe effect.
  • One sapphire with angular side edge, possible removal of chip.
  • Sapphires are in closed back settings, presumed foil back.
