An early 20th century natural pearl, seed pearl and diamond sautoir.

Condition Report

An early 20th century seed pearl sautoir, with natural pearl and rose-cut diamond bow drop and rose-cut diamond panel clasp. Verbal from GCS stating pearl, natural, saltwater. Estimated dimensions of pearl 7.7 by 8.2 by 6mms. Length 50cms. Length of drop 6cms. 18.2gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good.
  • Diamond and pearl bow drop and diamond clasp are later replacements, slight soft solder visible.
  • Diamonds bright and well matched.
  • Diamonds to clasp are in closed back settings, presumed foil back. Diamonds appear moderately tinted. One diamond with chip.
  • Clasp stamped 48. Reverse of clasp with few shallow dents.
  • Pearl untested for natural origin.
  • Pearl is a very slightly off-oval shape, silvery cream hue. Good lustre. Small area with slight surface blemishes.
  • Seed pearls untested for natural origin.
  • Some seed pearls with minor surface wear.
