Condition Report

A composite four piece silver tea service including a teapot, hot water pot, twin-handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each of plain octagonal bulbous form raised upon a stepped base, the teapot and hot water pot with ebonised wood handles and carved finials. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., Sheffield 1913, the hot water hallmarked Roberts & Belk Ltd., Sheffield 1914. Height of hot water pot inclusive of finial measures 8 inches (20.5 cm), gross weight 47.09 ozt (1464. 6 grams).

Purchasing information
    In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The threads on the hot water and teapot are worn and not screwing tightly. The sugar bowl and cream jug have silver-gilt interiors. Hallmarks clear and legible. The teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug also stamped 'Mappin & Webb. Ltd London' beneath the base, the hot water pot is further impressed with an 'Aladdin's lamp' mark and two further indistinct marks, possibly trademarks for Robert and Belks.
