A late Victorian cushion-shape ruby and old-cut diamond crescent brooch. Ruby total calculated weight estimated 4.25cts, based on estimated dimensions. Estimated total diamond weight 0.35ct. Diameter 2.8cms. 5.9gms.

  • Overall condition good.
  • Replacement fittings.
  • Diamonds well matched. Minor to moderate inclusions.
  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Rubies are fairly well matched, most with a deep red to medium deep red, fairly vibrant. Moderate to profuse inclusions under 10x.
  • The smallest two rubies at each terminal are a lighter pinkish red hue.
  • The smallest three rubies to each end were not calculated due to the setting restrictions.
  • The individual ruby calculated weights range from 0.73ct (estimated 5.3 by 4.9 by 3mms) to 0.28ct (3.7 by 3.6 by 2.3mms estimated).
