ROLEX - a gentleman's stainless steel Chronograph 'Pre-Daytona' bracelet watch.

Description

Condition Report

ROLEX - a gentleman's Chronograph 'Pre-Daytona' bracelet watch. Circa 1965. Stainless steel case. Reference 6238, serial 1226373. Signed manual wind calibre 72-B. Silvered dial with baton hour markers, subsidiary recorder dials to three, six and nine, outer tachymeter track. Fitted to a signed riveted stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp. 37mm. The Rolex 6238 or 'pre-Daytona' as it's known, is an extremely rare sports watch from Rolex. It's believed that only between 2000 to 2500 were produced in all metals and dial variations between 1962 and 1968. It differs from the later Daytona chronograph by having the tachymeter scale on the dial rather than on the bezel.
