Condition Report

A late Victorian silver and gold, sapphire and vari-cut diamond brooch.
May be worn as a pendant.

Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 0.45ct, G-I colour, VS-SI clarity.
Diameter 3cms. 6.1gms.

Purchasing information

  • General light marks and wear to metal. Claws unevenly worn but secure.

  • Jeweller-type scratch marks to brooch fittings.

  • Brooch fittings unscrew. Small hinged loop to suspend a surmount, no surmount present.

  • One single-cut diamond replacement.
  • Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate size, colour and clarity assessment.

  • Three diamonds chipped.
  • Sapphire is a bright, medium deep blue hue.


  • Sapphire with small abrasions to table facet and minor nick to girdle.


  • Sapphire approximate diameter 5.1mms.
