A late 19th century diamond and gem-set butterfly brooch. Designed as a stylised butterfly, with rose-cut diamond wings, split pearl body, circular ruby cabochon eyes and circular-shape ruby and sapphire highlights. Length 4.4cms. Weight 10.2gms.

- Ruby medium red, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.
- Sapphire medium blue, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.
- Split pearl with minor to moderate damages to the nacre.
