Condition Report

A late Victorian silver and gold diamond brooch. The circular-cut diamond, with old-cut diamond scrolling foliate surround. Principal diamond estimated 1ct, H-I colour, SI clarity. Estimated total diamond weight 2.75cts. Length 3.9cms. Weight 5.7gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Replacement fittings, converted from a larger item.
  • Principal diamond is a very shallow cut with a yellow metal backing to the mount which may be affecting the appearance of the colour.
  • Diamond graded within the limitations of the mount, grades may differ.
  • Principal diamond with small chips at the girdle. No obvious inclusions under 10x.
  • Estimated dimensions of principal diamond 8.2 by 2.5mms.
  • Diamonds bright and well matched.
  • Few, small, scattered inclusions.
  • Individual size and setting of non-principal diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
