Condition Report

An Arts & Craft style silver three piece tea service, including a teapot, twin-handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each of circular form with hammered finish raised upon four paw feet, the teapot with ebonised wood finial and handle, hallmarked J B Chatterley & Sons Ltd., Birmingham 1930, maximum height of teapot inclusive of finial measures 4 7/8 inches (12.4 cm). Together with an Edwardian silver sifter spoon, the pierced fluted bowl leading to a curved stem with floral terminal, hallmarked James Deakin & Sons (John & William F Deakin), Sheffield 1906, plus a pair of 1930's silver sugar tongs. Gross weight 30.9 ozt (962.3 grams).

Purchasing information
    In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The tea service has remnants of polish visible and would benefit from a clean. Minor loss of definition to the hammered surfaces. The teapot has a minor dent to the lower body and a soft solder repair visible to the curve of the spout where it joins the main body with some dirt residue marks to the interior. The sugar bowl and cream jug have some minor bumps to the body, the sugar bowl has some slight compression from the feet and handle visible to the interior. The sifter spoon has a curved stem possibly manipulated and slightly off centre, the seam is also visible between the bowl and the stem, some minor loss of definition to the fluting. Hallmarks slightly rubbed but majority clear and legible.
