Condition Report

A continental claret jug with gilt metal mounts, the clear glass body of cylindrical form with spread bulbous base and etched with vine leaf garlands, the gilt mounts having bead borders and further decorated with fruiting and trailing vine, the spout forming the head of Bacchus, the hinged lid surmounted with a lion holding a shield and having a caryatid handle. Appears unmarked. Maximum height to finial measuring 11 inches (28 cm).
