A pair of mid-Victorian silver open salts.

Condition Report

A pair of mid-Victorian silver open salts, each of circular form with gadrooned inner rim and embossed floral decoration surrounding a vacant cartouche, raised upon three shell mounted claw feet. Hallmarked Robert Harper, London 1865. Diameter measures 2 3/8 inches (6.3 cm), weight 4.1 ozt (129.1 grams).

Purchasing information
    In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. No personal engravings to the cartouches. Some compression visible to the interiors from the feet. Heavier tarnishing to the interior embossed decoration. One salt has a area of discolouration, tarnishing and marks to the centre which also appears to slightly dip inwards. Remnants of polish visible. Hallmarks clear and legible.
