Condition Report

A late Victorian gold cat's-eye chrysoberyl and old-cut diamond cluster ring. Chrysoberyl calculated weight 3.54cts, based on estimated dimensions of 8.3 by 8 by 5.3mms. Estimated total diamond weight 0.45ct, G-H colour, VS-SI clarity. Approximate ring size N1/2. 4.4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good to fair. Moderate wear to the settings and claws. Band appears to be a replacement of similar age.
  • Some localised scratches and discolouration to the inside of the band. Marks are worn.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Diamonds bright and lively. Diamonds generally appear in good condition, some with small nicks.

  • Cat's-eye chrysoberyl displays a strong and obvious chatoyancy effect under normal lighting and a distinct line under strong focused lighting.

  • Cat's-eye chrysoberyl in good condition with, cavity/chip to the reverse.

  • Diameter of ring head 1.3cms.
