Condition Report

A late 19th century gold gem-set clover brooch. The three-leaf clover, with circular-cut diamond, cushion-shape ruby and sapphire highlights and central seed pearl, to the grooved stem with split pearl clover off-shoot. Estimated diamond weight 0.10ct. Length 4.2cms. Weight 4.5gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches and discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Later safety chain loop added (safety chain deficient) with slight soft solder visible.
  • Diamond bright with small, scattered inclusions.
  • Seed pearl untested for natural origin.
  • Seed and split pearls well matched.
  • Size and setting of diamond prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Ruby is a deep red hue. Sapphire is a medium deep blue hue. Typical inclusions.

  • Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.
